Aims and Objectives
Section 1
(i) To encourage the teachings, practice and realisation of the Buddha Dhamma (the
teachings of the Buddha with special emphasis on the Theravada tradition),
(i.e. Sila (morality), Samadhi (meditation) and Panna (wisdom).
(ii) To establish suitable facilities for and to support the invited Sangha
(Buddhist Monk(s) and Nun(s)) so they may act as spiritual guides and minister
for the well being of the CAMBODIAN community and other members of the wider community.
(iii) To establish a permanent Cambodian Buddhist centre in Perth, Western Australia,
in the name of WAT DHAMMAYANARAM, formally known as Wat Jotehsatharam, a monastery which
represents the Cambodian Buddhist Tradition and also the Cambodian Cultural Heritage.
Section 2
1. To acquire and receive from public or private sources in any lawful manner,
to possess and maintain, to administer and dispose, any property of a real, personal
or mixed nature, whether intangible or intangible.
2. The Association is organised solely for non-profit purposes. No part
of the income of the Association shall inure to the benefit of any member, director, officer of the Association, any private individual, except that reasonable
compensation may be paid for services rendered to the Association.
3. No member, officer of the Association or any private individual shall be entitled
to share in the distribution of any of the Association assets, on dissolution
of the Association.
4. No part of the activities of the Association shall consist of carrying on
propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation; nor shall it in any
extent, participate in, or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of any
candidate for public office; nor shall it issue capital stock, nor shall it engage in any
transaction defined at the time as “prohibited” under the Charitable Collection Act.
5. The property and income of the Association shall be applied solely towards the promotion
of the objects or purposes of the Association and no part of that property or income
may be paid or otherwise distributed, directly or indirectly, to members of the Association.
